The beginning of an exploration in the wine landscape of Lede!
What started with a hobby in my own garden, grew into a passion that I just could not stop. I have always been a hedonist and the country side is in my roots. That is why it is no surprise that I have always wanted to do something with my hands. When my father-in-law started his vineyard, I loved nothing more than to help him.
Not much later I decided to plant my own vineyard: in March 2008 my wife and I planted 68 vines of Chardonnay in our garden. My children, Free and Lotte, quickly picked up our enthusiasm and meanwhile there are 220 vines in our garden since 2015. While the only white grape we planted was Chardonnay, we chose Fruhburgunder, Spätburgunder and Acolon as red varieties.
We produce mainly Belgian sparkling wines, but to a lesser extent also red and white wines. Year after year, after extensive pre-trials of course, we deliver a number of assemblages for bottling: the millésimes.
From the 2015 harvest, for example, this resulted in some 200 bottles, including 15 bottles of red Acolon wine.

At the beginning of 2016, we purchased a one-hectare domain under the name Chateau Ten Bosch, or "Kasteeltje van Blancquaert" (Castle of Blancquaert). This name has meanwhile been changed to wine estate Leeflank, and with good reason! (Read more about this on the page Origins of the name.)
In April 2016 we planted 2700 vines of the Chardonnay, Spätburgunder, Acolon and Nebbiolo wine varieties on the wine estate. All our vines are meticulously and personally cared for on the domain. We fight weeds mechanically, expand ladybirds and keep chemicals to a minimum. We therefore applied the same strategy in order to be able to pick the first harvest by hand in the autumn of 2018.
In the future, you can also expect wine tastings in the cellar of the castle (with the necessary knowledge and pleasure). The expectations in Lede are already high!
In addition to the production of wine, there is also the production of beer. FAL - 'Funky As Leeflank' - is the flagship of domain Leeflank. Tasting brews, often seasonal beers, will be available on site in the future.
